A court in Berlin has partially lifted a ban on the use of Russian flags during Victory in Europe Day events on May 8 and 9, local law enforcement reported on Twitter on May 7.

"Berlin's Administrative Court allowed, among other things, the hanging of Russian flags on the Soviet memorial on May 9," the message reads.

Berlin police added that in the morning, on May 7, they appealed this decision.

Earlier, activists in Germany overturned a similar ban on the display of Ukrainian flags.
