U.S. President Joe Biden is expected to request an additional $25 billion in funding from the U.S. Congress, to be used to finance Washington’s aid and relief programs – including military assistance to Ukraine, Bloomberg reported on Aug. 10.

A source told the journalists that the request could trigger a "confrontation with Republicans," who are "less inclined to provide further financial support" to Ukraine.

According to the report, the request will include nearly $12 billion in aid for natural disasters and $13 billion for defense, including assistance for Ukraine.

In December, Congress approved additional funding for Ukraine amounting to $45 billion, calculated for the 2023 financial year (ending Sept. 30).

Earlier, The Washington Post reported that since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion, the United States has provided Ukraine with military aid worth over $43 billion.
