Nothing suggests Moscow is prepared to engage in constructive peace talks with Ukraine so far, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said during a press briefing on Oct. 21.
Blinken underscored the United States will work to explore diplomatic avenues to resolve the conflict, as soon as they present themselves.
“Everything points towards (Russian dictator Vladimir) Putin still being far from ready for serious diplomacy; he continues to move in the opposite direction,” said Blinken.
“We consider and will keep considering any diplomatic means; as soon as we see an opportunity for something like that – we will of course consider it,” the secretary added.
Blinken noted that in recent months, Russia has repeatedly opted for further escalation and aggression.
