UK Defense Minister Ben Wallace announced the next package of military aid for Ukraine, which will include missiles, artillery and UAVs, Reuters reported on Oct. 12.
The new package, in particular, will include 18 howitzers and AMRAAM missiles for NASAMS air defense systems.
"Russia's latest indiscriminate strikes on civilian areas in Ukraine warrant further support to those seeking to defend their nation,” Wallace said.
"So today I have authorized the supply of AMRAAM anti-aircraft missiles to Ukraine."
The AMRAAMs, or Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missiles, will be provided in the coming weeks, and can be used with the National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile System, or NASAMS air defense systems pledged by the United States.
Pentagon spokesperson Pat Ryder announced on Sept. 16 that Ukraine should receive the first two NASAMS batteries in about two months (approximately in mid-November).
On Oct. 11, the United States announced that it would speed up the delivery of the two NASAMS systems to Ukraine after Russia's massive missile strikes on the previous day.
