The Government of Canada will provide CAD 1 billion (approximately U.S.$ 800 million) via the International Monetary Fund to help Ukraine, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said on his Telegram channel on April 10.

“Yesterday, at the request of several member countries, in particular Canada, the International Monetary Fund approved the opening of a special administrative account for crediting funds from donor countries to help Ukraine,” Shmyhal wrote.

“The Government of Canada will be the first to send (money) through this account – one billion Canadian dollars.”
