At least one person was killed and another two were injured after the Federal Security Service’s (FSB) Border Service building caught fire in Rostov-on-Don, Russia, Russia’s TASS reported on March 16.

The cause of the blast is still unknown, although Russian Telegram channel Baza, which posted the footage of the fire, said it was caused by a blast in an ammunition depot.

The local authorities, in turn, claim that a short circuit of electrical wiring inside the premises is the cause behind the fire, TASS said.

Explosions can still be heard at the scene, most likely due to exploding ammunition. Cars outside the building have been evacuated and the site has been cordoned off.

Meanwhile, the 161.ru Telegram messenger, citing sources in the Russian security forces, reported that the victims were “warehouse workers.”

Reportedly 25 units of special equipment and 63 firefighters are extinguishing the 850 square-meter fire.
