Russian forces fired upon the Antonivka
Road Bridge in Ukraine's Kherson
Oblast, killing a Ukrainian civilian and injuring Italian journalist
Corrado Zunino, Ukraine’s Prosecutor-General’s Office said in a message on its
website on April 26.
Zunino, working for Italian daily newspaper La Repubblica, was writing a piece on life in Kherson – a large city under constant Russian fire from across the Dnipro River.
He sustained a gunshot wound to his shoulder and was taken to hospital for treatment.
La Repubblica reports that the civilian killed was a Ukrainian fixer working with Zunino, and he is survived a wife and son. Zunino emphasized that he was wearing a vest with clear markings that identified him as a reporter.
The publication suggests that the journalists may have fallen into a trap set up by Russian snipers.
Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani tweeted about the attack, suggesting that it may have been carried out by a Russian drone.
