Ukrainian forces continue to advance near Kherson, but some media reports of liberated settlements are partially inaccurate, a source in the Armed Forces of Ukraine told NV on Aug. 30.

CNN earlier reported that Ukrainian troops have driven Russian out of Novodmytrivka, Arkhanhelkse, Pravdyne, and Tomyna Balka.

While Pravdyne has indeed been liberated, our source said that Novodmytrivka and Tomyna Balka remain contested.

According to the source, Russian garrisons in nearby Stanislav and Shyroka Balka would have to be driven off first before Tomyna Balka can be secured.

Ukraine’s military breached the Russian’s outer line of defense in occupied Kherson Oblast on Aug. 29.

Simultaneous Ukrainian strikes knocked out Russian staging areas and key supply routes in Kherson and nearby Nova Kakhovka, preventing Moscow from immediately reinforcing its embattled forces on the right bank of the Dnipro River.
