Russians have been confiscating passports from Ukrainians in the occupied territories, so they can pass them to their saboteur reconnaissance groups, Ukraine’s National Resistance Center (NRC) reported on Feb. 20.

According to the NRC, Russian invaders are demanding that Ukrainians under occupation show proof of Russian documentation or have their property confiscated – documentation that is only available after obtaining a Russian passport. However, in order to receive a Russian passport, Russian occupation authorities demand that the Ukrainian passport be relinquished to them.

Passports are also taken from those who have been sent to interrogation facilities, and are not returned after release.

These confiscated and seized passports are them used by saboteur groups, the NRC noted.
