Only the complete and unconditional liberation of Crimea from Russian military occupation will guarantee the security of the entire Middle East, Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council secretary, Oleksiy Danilov, wrote on Twitter on May 22.

“The issue of the security of the entire Middle East [and] the security of shipping and free trade in the Black Sea cannot be resolved without the complete and unconditional de-occupation of Crimea and the status of Sevastopol as Ukraine’s modern and powerful naval base,” he tweeted.

Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov previously said that Ukraine will liberate Crimea “without a fight,” adding that Ukraine will not pursue a purely military operation to take back the peninsula.
