Crimea is and was a part of Ukraine, and after its liberation it will become part of the EU, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated at the summit of the Crimean platform on Aug 23.

Zelenskyy has said that Russia's war against Ukraine should end with the liberation of Crimea, just as it began in 2014 with the Ukrainian peninsula’s occupation by Russia.

According to him, a legislative foundation is being created for the restoration of Crimea after its liberation.

Zelenskyy added that the Russian invaders, who are using Ukraine’s Crimea as a military base, threaten the security of the Black Sea region, all of Europe, and global stability.

Ukraine held the second summit of the Crimean Platform on Aug. 23. This time it was held online due to a full-scale war with Russia.

The Crimean Platform is a major international negotiating platform for Ukraine on the liberation of Crimea. Last year, the founding summit of the Crimean Platform in Kyiv brought together representatives from all NATO and EU countries, causing great irritation to Russia. The summit was attended by 46 international delegations.
