Hamas kidnaps over 100 Israelis – Israeli Embassy in the US
The Palestinian militant group Hamas kidnapped more than 100 individuals, including civilians and Israeli military personnel, during an attack on Oct. 7, the Israeli Embassy in the United States reported on X (Twitter).
The attack resulted in the tragic loss of over 300 Israeli lives, with at least 1,800 sustaining injuries.
What’s happening in Israel?
Hamas launched a massive rocket barrage at Israel from the Gaza Strip on Oct. 7, firing approximately 5,000 rockets. Additionally, hundreds of armed Hamas militants breached the southern border of Israel.
Hamas officially announced the start of a new large-scale operation against Israel.
During the attack, Hamas managed to seize control of seven communities in southern Israel and took dozens of Israeli soldiers and civilians as hostages. Tragically, at least 300 people lost their lives in Israel as a result of this attack.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that the country is “at war” and added, “we will prevail.”
The Israeli government initiated Operation Iron Swords. In the evening, the Israeli military regained control of the populated areas in the south that Hamas had captured.
Israel has also conducted airstrikes against Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip.
Netanyahu proclaimed that Israel has embarked on a “long and difficult war” and pledged to utilize the full strength of the Israel Defense Forces to eliminate the capabilities of Hamas.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
