Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has prompted laughter and jeering from the audience at the Raisina Dialogue conference in Delhi, India, after he asserted that Russia is attempting to end the war in Ukraine, as seen in a video circulating on social media on March 3.

While speaking at the stage, the minister audaciously claimed that instead of attacking Ukraine, Russia itself has become a victim of foreign aggression, waged though Ukrainians as mere proxies.

“You know, the war which we’re trying to stop and which was launched against us, using Ukrainian people, of course it (has) influenced policy of Russia, including energy policy…,” Lavrov said, having to pause mid-sentence as the audience started laughing and making sneering remarks.

In but a moment, the minister regained his balance and continued with delivering the rest of his message.
