As the country lacks the heavy weaponry needed to push the Russian invaders back, the current phase of the war is critical for Ukraine, Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov said in a Facebook post on June 1.

Russia's war against Ukraine is in its fourth month

“Ukraine right now is going through a critical phase of the war,” said Reznikov.

“The fighting in the east is brutal; we lack heavy weapons to throw the enemy out. We’re not relenting, not even for a moment.”

According to the minister, every day of Ukraine’s resistance brings forth the country’s inevitable victory.

“The battle for Donbas and our other lands is underway, and we still have the task of liberating them ahead of us – up to Ukraine’s internationally recognized borders,” Reznikov’s message reads.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that on average, Ukraine loses 60 to 100 soldiers daily, with 500 sustaining injuries.

In Donbas, the invading Russian forces are currently digging in the Severodonetsk city center, attempting to further their advances near Bakhmut and Lyman.
