Daily number of COVID-19 cases exceeds 34,000 for the first time since beginning of pandemic

Over the past day, 34,408 Ukrainians have been diagnosed with COVID-19, a total of 144 deaths were recorded, and 6,142 patients recovered from the disease, according to official data from the Ukrainian Ministry of Health as of the morning of Jan. 28.

This is the second day in a row Ukraine has recorded its highest ever number of daily COVID-19 infections. A day earlier, 32,393 COVID-19 cases were recorded.

Over the entire duration of the pandemic in Ukraine, a total of 3,980,610 people have been diagnosed with COVID-19, of which 3,608,094 have recovered, and 99,882 have died.

No data is available for the temporarily occupied territories of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, the non-government-controlled parts of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts, and Sevastopol.

An adaptive quarantine is in effect in the country until the end of March 2022, dividing Ukraine into colored zones that represent the coronavirus’ impact on the region.

Ivano-Frankivsk and Rivne Oblasts are in the red zone, while all other regions are currently in the yellow or orange zones.

Over 30 million coronavirus vaccination doses have been administered, with nearly 14 million people having received two doses and more than 300,000 people having had a booster dose.
