Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Malyar named ten major victories of the Armed Forces so far at a Military Media Center briefing on Feb 23, on the eve of the anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
Almost a year into the all-out war, the Ukrainian army continues to defend the country from the occupation forces, liberating its territories, Malyar said.
Malyar also proceeded to list the following achievements of the army and civilians:
- successful defense of Kyiv, Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv in February-April2022;
- massive civilian resistance to the Russian military in the temporarily occupied territories;
- expulsion of the occupying troops from Kyiv, Chernihiv and Sumy oblasts in March-April 2022 and their complete de-occupation;
- destruction of the cruiser Moskva;
- expelling the Russian military from Zmiyinyi Island (Snake Island) in the Black Sea;
- destruction of the logistics system of the Russian invasion forces in the south and east of Ukraine in June and August 2022;
- expulsion of the Russian forces from Kharkiv Oblast in September-October2022;
- de-occupation of Kherson city and part of Kherson Oblast;
- successful actions of the air defense forces that protect Ukraine from mass missile and drone attacks by the Russian Federation;
- containment of the Russian offensive in eastern Ukraine, which continues to this day.
Ukraine continues its struggle for independence and territorial integrity almost a year after the start of Russia's full-scale invasion. The entire civilized world supports Kyiv with billions of dollars in financial and military aid.
The vast majority of Ukrainians, some 87%, are against territorial concessions to Russia, even if the fighting continues, a new poll from the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology has found.
Speaking to the UK Parliament, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he was confident that Russia would be defeated.
Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Serhiy Nayev said that the war in Ukraine will end with Ukraine being restored to its 1991 borders.
National Security and Defense Council Secretary Oleksiy Danilov said that he believes that Ukraine's real victory is "the collapse of Russia, its disappearance as an integral subject of history and politics."
