Denmark is planning to buy Leopard 1A5 tanks from Germany and transfer them to Ukraine, Danish news outlet OLFI reported on Feb. 1.

The publication writes that the Danish army does not have a single Leopard 1A5, but plans to supply 20 tanks to Ukraine, which it will purchase from the German company FFG. The tanks will be repaired and returned to service, after which they will be sent to Ukraine.

"In 2010, FFG purchased 100 Leopard 1A5 main battle tanks from Denmark to overhaul them and then resell them," the statement said.

According to Thorsten Peter, sales director of the German company FFG, they have not yet started reconditioning the tanks, but have conducted an inspection.

"We have concluded that we can have 20 tanks repaired and ready to ship within three months and another 20 tanks in six months," he said.

Following a meeting with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen in Odesa, President Zelenskyy announced that Copenhagen was ready to join an international coalition to supply tanks to Kyiv.
