Denmark to send $36 million worth of ammunition to Ukraine

Denmark will send Ukraine $36 million worth of ammunition, following a direct request by the Ukrainian government, Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen said, according to Danish news outlet TV2.
“It is a substantial contribution that Ukraine needs very urgently,” Rasmussen said.
The ammunition being sent consists of 2,000 artillery shells – one of the most commonly used types of munitions in Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
“The situation is what we can all see, that an offensive has been announced,” the Danish minister explained.
"It's just getting started. Ukraine has succeeded in keeping the Russians at bay, and now the time has come for them to respond again. It follows that they need the necessary capacities – including ammunition.”
Danish defense minister Troels Lund Poulsen noted that this ammunition package “is not something that makes Ukraine certain of having enough ammunition.”
“This is a contribution to the concrete, acute challenge that they are facing,” he clarified.
“Additional ammunition is needed. So this is a contribution to a current challenge.”
Denmark’s largest military aid package to Ukraine was announced on May 2, containing materiel and equipment necessary for mounting a counter-offensive against Russian invasion forces.
