Denmark expects to soon ship the promised Leopard 1 tanks to Ukraine, acting Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen said on April 15.

The Flensburger Fahrzeugbau Gesellschaft (FFG) company is finalising the refurbishment of the tanks.

Poulsen visited FFG alongside representatives of the defense committee and Foreign Policy Council. They also checked Leopard 1A5 tanks that are also undergoing restoration.

"I am very pleased to be able to invite parliamentary politicians to FFG so they too can see how far we have come in the process of restoring the Leopard 1 tanks. And we hope to be able to send them to Ukraine very soon," the official said.

Denmark plans to send around 80 tanks for two battalions after the Ukrainian military completes the necessary training.

Denmark and the Netherlands plan to transfer Leopards to Ukraine, as well as Germany, Poland, Canada, Portugal, Spain, and Norway, Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin said on Feb. 14.

Finland has also confirmed its participation in the tank coalition, while some governments have reconsidered their decisions to supply Ukraine with battle tanks.
