A family was killed in Zolochiv, Lviv Oblast when a Russian missile hit their house during the mass missile and drone attack of Ukraine on March 9, leaving the family’s dog all alone, Ukraine’s Suspilne TV reports.
Pictures of the dog, lying on debris and blankets from the destroyed house, have been circulating on social media.

Russia conducted another mass drone and missile attack on Ukraine in the early hours of March 9. Explosions were heard in many regions, including Kyiv.
Eighty-one missiles and eight Shahed drones were launched over the course of the attack, with almost half being shot down.
The missiles included six X-47 Kinzhal “Dagger” air-launched aero-ballistic hypersonic missiles, which Ukrainian air defense is unable to intercept. It is believed that Russia has only 50 such missiles, making the use of so many in a single attack remarkable.
“I don’t remember that so many Daggers being released during this war in one blow”, Ukraine’s Hromadske reports an Air Force spokesperson as saying.
Energy infrastructure facilities were damaged in Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa, Zhytomyr, and Ivano-Frankivsk oblasts, as well as the city of Kyiv.
Eleven missiles were launched on Kharkiv alone.
One Russian missile hit a residential neighbourhood in Lviv Oblast, destroying two homes and killing at least five people, who were likely sleeping at the time of the attack.
A fire broke out at the site of impact, which has been extinguished. Rescuers continue to remove the debris. In total, three houses, three cars, a garage, and several utility buildings were destroyed.
