Most of the residents of Ukraine’s Luhansk region have refused to evacuate and relocate to other regions of the country, resulting in only 20 residents being evacuated on May 2, reported Serhiy Haidai, head of the Luhansk re-gional administration, via Telegram messenger.
“18 residents of Lysychansk and 2 residents of Siverodonetsk have chosen security over other options today – and now they’re heading to a relaxed life,” Haidai said.
“In response to our call to evacuate, only a few have accepted it, while shelling has intensified.”
According to Haidai, humanitarian assistance such as food and medicine is being provided for those residents who decided to stay.
“From other area of our region, the evacuation might be harder, as Russian invaders keep on soaking residential areas with fire," added Haidai.
