In the early hours of May 19, an unidentified drone crashed onto a railway in Russian-occupied Crimea, severing the contact wires, the pro-Russian Telegram channel Baza reported on May 19.
The incident occurred near the Solone Ozero station in the Dzhankoy district of the peninsula. It is noted that the actual railway track was not damaged, but rail traffic had to be suspended regardless.
The crash site remains littered with debris, and bomb disposal experts are currently working on site.
On the morning of May 18, an explosion occurred on the railway in Crimea, near Bakhchisaray. A freight train derailed, with 11 out of 23 cars affected. Five of them overturned, and one was completely destroyed.
Train traffic between Simferopol and Sevastopol has been halted. The occupiers claimed that the incident was due to “interference by third parties.”
