A center for children with special needs was among the civilian targets hit overnight in a Russian missile attack on the city of Zaporizhzhya in southeastern Ukraine, the head of the Zaporizhzhia regional military administration, Oleksandr Starukh, reported on Oct. 3.

Starukh said Russia’s invasion forces fired around a dozen S-300 missiles into the city.

One person is known to have been hospitalized with injuries from the attack.

The invaders also attacked villages near the city of Zaporizhzhya. But according to preliminary information, the missiles impacted outside of the settlements, and no one was injured.

Russian invaders also attacked the city of Zaporizhzhya and the surrounding parts of the oblast with S-300 missiles on the morning of Oct. 2. As a result of an enemy attack, industrial infrastructure was destroyed.

Russia has in many cases switched to using less accurate S-300 air defense missiles that have been adapted to strike ground targets. There is speculation that the Russian military has been forced to conserve its more accurate and modern missiles for military targets.

Russia mostly uses S-300 missiles to attack civilian residential areas and civilian infrastructure.
