The European Union should increase aid to Ukraine, seeing as Russia is continuing to bomb Ukraine every day, High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell said on Nov. 28.

"In Ukraine, we have to increase our support,” he said ahead of a Foreign Affairs Council meeting.

“(Russian dictator Vladimir) Putin continues bombing Ukraine. Putin continues trying to make Ukraine a black hole – no light, no electricity, no heating –, to put Ukrainians into the darkness and the cold. So, we have to continue our support, providing more material for the Ukrainians to face the winter without electricity.”

According to Borrell, the EU will look at the Ukrainian war from the point of view of a humanitarian crisis.

“It means a lot of things: from electricity appliances, to everything that is needed to pass the winter without electricity,” he explained.

“It is difficult to imagine, but it is what is going to happen.”

Following a Russian mass missile attack on Ukraine on Nov. 23, Borrell said the European Union’s support for Ukraine and Moldova would not change.
