The President of the European Council, Charles Michel, has officially invited Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to participate in a future European Council summit in Brussels, representative of the President of the European Council, Barend Leyts, announced via Twitter on Feb. 6.
“The President of the European Council has invited President Zelenskyy to participate in person in a future summit of the European Council,” Leyts wrote.
“For security reasons, no further information will be provided.”
Earlier, the Financial Times reported that Zelenskyy could travel to Brussels in near future to meet with EU leaders, but the trip could be canceled due to security concerns.
Since the beginning of Russian full-scale invasion, Zelenskyy has made only one foreign trip – to Washington D.C., where he met with U.S. President Joe Biden and addressed both chambers of U.S. Congress.
