European Solidarity urges Koretskyi to keep Fedorov in government

The European Solidarity faction appealed to newly appointed Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyi to give Mykhailo Fedorov a ministerial post in the new government, saying “his experience and expertise must work for the country’s security and defense.”
“We appeal to the newly appointed prime minister, with whom we had a constructive meeting this morning,” European Solidarity said in a statement on Facebook.
“During the discussion, an important promise was made: the new government must be professional, technocratic and work in the interests of the state and European integration.”
The faction also demanded that people linked to corruption scandals, including “Mindichgate,” and in particular the head of the State Financial Monitoring Service, not be allowed to join the government.
European Solidarity also called for UAH 40 billion, or about $958 million, that it says was “withdrawn from the financing” of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to be returned to the military.
The faction also demanded that personal income tax paid by servicemembers be transferred to combat brigades.
European Solidarity said it also considers two decisions “fundamentally important”: continuing Ukraine’s course toward full membership in the European Union and rebooting the State Bureau of Investigation and other law enforcement agencies in line with EU requirements.
Ukraine’s parliament appointed Naftogaz CEO Serhiy Koretskyi as prime minister on July 16.
The Rada is also expected to vote on a number of ministers in the new government on July 16.
Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov is expected to be replaced, with Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko proposed for the post.
Rallies in support of Fedorov are being held in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Odesa and Lviv on July 16.
