An explosion was heard near the Russian-occupied city of Mariupol, Donetsk Oblast, at a weapons depot used by Russians, said Mariupol mayoral advisor Petro Andriushchenko on Telegram on March 16.
"Mariupol District, the village of Maloyanysol. A blast. Fire and detonation. Minus occupiers' depot, which they have been forming so hard in recent weeks," the message reads.
The sounds of air defense and Grad multiple rocket launchers were heard in Mariupol shortly before, the mayor's advisor reported. It likely was the echo of detonation.
Andriushchenko said the explosions were seen even from the town of Volnovakha, Donetsk Oblast.
Three blasts were heard in Mariupol on March 13. In response, Russia took its aircraft off the ground.
Two Russian personnel concentration areas were reportedly hit in Mariupol on March 11.
Natalia Humeniuk, head of the Joint Press Center of the Southern Operational Command, says that Ukrainian weapons are now able to reach Russian occupation forces’ deployments in Mariupol.
