An explosion has rocked the building where the Moscow-appointed “head of administration” of Enerhodar Andriy Shevchik lives, local media outlet Enerhodar Today said in a Telegram post on May 22.

Prior to the Russian invasion, Shevchik served as a local councilman for the pro-Russia OPZZH party.

According to the report, the explosion occurred at around 8:30 a.m.

The legitimate mayor of Enerhodar, Dmytro Orlov, later confirmed that the Russian collaborator and his bodyguards were injured in the explosion and are currently being treated at a local hospital.

No other residents in the apartment block were harmed, reportedly.

“We can conclude that the collaborator was the target (of the explosion),” said Orlov.

Enerhodar and the nearby Zaporizhzhya NPP have under Russian occupation since March 4.

In late March, most members of the city council stood down in order to prevent Moscow from legitimizing its rule via the elected body. Shevchik, however, decided to cooperate with the occupiers, and announced a “council of self-governance” that allegedly would act as a municipal authority in Enerhodar.
