Footage from February shows a Russian National Guard unit being ambushed by Ukraine’s army
A video shot by a Russian soldier who, along with his unit, came under fire from the Armed Forces of Ukraine during the early part of Russia's invasion of the country has surfaced on social media.
According to military expert Rob Lee, the published footage depicts the special forces of the Rosgvardia, a military force notorious for its brutal treatment of peaceful protesters across Russia.
Having fallen into an ambush, the Russian servicemen immediately abandoned their trucks in a panic, which left them with practically no cover, and proceeded to hide behind the their armored personnel carrier in an effort to avoid a hail of Ukrainian bullets.
The fate of the invaders is not known. However, given the huge scale of Russian losses in Ukraine and the fact that the video was shot on Feb. 24, the first day of the invasion, by this time many of the Russian troops may have been killed.
