Finland approved $150 million in Ukraine military aid

Finland’s
President Alexander Stubb has approved the country’s 33rd military aid package
for Ukraine, Finnish Defense Ministry announced on May 29.
The equipment in this package is worth about EUR128 million ($150 million). Finland has now supplied Ukraine with defensive equipment totaling about EUR3.4 billion ($4 billion), the ministry said.
The package includes both transfers from the Finnish armed forces’ stocks and weapons purchased from domestic defense industry suppliers.
“Ukraine still needs the support of its Western allies in its defensive struggle,” Defense Minister Antti Häkkänen said.
“Russia has waged its aggressive war for a fifth consecutive year. Finland is committed to supporting Ukraine as long as necessary. This also strengthens Finland’s defense industrial base.”
Detailed information about the package’s exact contents,
delivery method, and timing was not disclosed. The ministry said the aid was
configured to meet Ukraine’s needs while taking into account the available
resources.
