Fires broke out in a residential building and the warehouse of a construction store near the Kherson highway in the city of Mykolaiv after Russian invaders used artillery against the city late on April 18, the Main Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Mykolaiv Oblast reported on Facebook on April 19.

According to rescuers, the fire covered an area of 200 square meters.

"Teams of Mykolaivoblenerho JSC (regional power distribution company), Mykolaivgaz JSC (regional gas company), as well as the patrol police crew were additionally involved (to put out the fire)," reads the report.

No casualties have been reported yet.

Late on April 18, Mykolaiv Mayor Oleksandr Senkevych reported several blasts in the city. He said he would provide details soon.

Mykolaiv has been under near constant shelling since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Russian attacks damaged the Mykolaiv Oblast administration building on March 29, killing 37 and wounding another 34.
