First quiet night in Kharkiv as four people killed in oblast, says regional governor

For the first time in several weeks, the night of July 8 was a quiet one for Kharkiv City residents, the head of the Kharkiv Oblast Military Administration Oleg Synehubov said in a Telegram statement.

"This night, for the first time in several weeks, there was no night shelling of Kharkiv," he said.

“But we have no right to lose our vigilance. After all, just yesterday evening, the enemy massively shelled the Nemyshlyanskyi district of the city. Residential buildings, garages, containers, outbuildings were damaged”.

Synehubov recalled that three civilians were killed and five more were wounded as a result of the shelling in that attack.

In Kharkiv Oblast, Russian troops continued shelling civilian population and infrastructure of the Kharkiv, Chuhuyiv, Izyum and Bohodukhiv districts of the region. As a result of shelling, private houses and farm buildings were destroyed, and fires broke out in open areas.

In total, four people died and nine were injured in Kharkiv Oblast over the course of the day.

Russia launched missile strikes on the Novobavarskyi, Kyivskyi and Osnovyanskyi districts of Kharkiv on the night of July 6. The strikes were carried out from Russian territory. As a result, the building of the Kharkiv National Pedagogical University was destroyed.
