A senior representative of the U.S. Department of Defence has said that the first Russian military units withdrawn from Kyiv Oblast have begun to appear in Donbas, CNN reported on April 14.

According to him, these are military units withdrawn from the northern regions of Ukraine and Kyiv Oblast and returned to Russia and Belarus to re-plenish their combat capabilities, before heading to Donbas.

“They have already deployed a significant number of forces into the region... According to our estimates, there are a total of 65 combat-ready battalion tactical groups (BTG) in Ukraine. And they really are in the eastern and southern parts of Ukraine. There are no BTGs outside the south and east of Ukraine... In the coming days, they will try to redeploy additional BTGs,” a Pentagon spokesman told reporters.
