Despite the fact that Budapest's statements "are unpleasant and emotional," Hungary joins in EU sanctions, Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dmytro Kuleba told Ukrinform on Aug 3.
In an interview, Kuleba discussed the difficult relations between Ukraine and Hungary and the scandalous statements recently made by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.
“As part of the discussion within the EU, Hungary is 'knocking down' some potential new sanctions,” Kuleba said. “But this has not yet reached a critical level for us, to say that some significant steps weren’t made because of Hungary. Hungary also supported granting Ukraine the status of a candidate member of the EU.”
According to Kuleba, "as long as Hungary's statements do not coincide with its actions regarding Ukraine, we can live on and keep working together."
Earlier Orban said that the West should focus on peace, not winning in Ukraine. He also called Zelenskyy one of his opponents, while earlier a member of his party questioned the mental health of the Ukrainian president.
