Former Minister of Education and Science under fugitive ex-president Viktor Yanukovych, Dmytro Tabachnyk, has been appointed an advisor to the Kremlin's puppet in Zaporizhzhya Oblast, Yevgeny Balitsky, the mayor of the temporarily seized Melitopol, Ivan Fedorov, reported on Telegram on April 27.
"Balitsky’s (team) is now supplemented by an odious minister from the Yanukovych government, Dmytro Tabachnyk," Fedorov wrote.
Fedorov also said Tabachnyk is also running for MP from Putin's United Russia party in upcoming elections in Russia.
At the end of November 2022, Tabachnyk was charged with treason. According to investigators, he organized and coordinated the activities of Volodymyr Saldo and Yevgeny Balitsky (heads of fake "administrations" illegally created by the Russian occupation “authorities” in Kherson and Zaporizhzhya oblasts) "in the field of healthcare, education and preparation for (fake) ‘referendums’."
In January 2023, Ukraine’s Security Service seized assets worth more than $2 million belonging to Tabachnyk.
Tabachnyk was put on the wanted list by the SBU in 2015. According to law enforcement, he is hiding from law enforcement in Ukraine’s Crimea, which has been under Russian military occupation since 2014.
Tabachnyk is also suspected of the misappropriation of property through abuse of office.
