Advancing Ukrainian forces are already within 20-25 kilometers of Kherson City, Editor-in-Chief of Ukrainian news outlet Censor.NET, Yuriy Butusov, said in an interview with NV Radio on Nov. 10.
“Basically, the city is already in the range of our artillery fire,” said Butusov.
He added that the enemy is in “rapid” retreat, and that the process is now irreversible.
“Ukrainian troops have approached the Dnipro River,” the journalist said.
“Meaning, Russian river crossings are already within range of artillery fire, in some areas. By now, it’s impossible for Russian forces to hold their Kherson bridgehead.”
Butusov noted that the Ukrainian army is armed with U.S.-made HIMARS rocket artillery, which allow inflicting devastating strikes at retreating Russian armor columns.
On Nov. 9, commander of Russian forces in Ukraine Sergei Surovikin reported to Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, advising that Russian troops should “take up defense” along the left bank of the Dnipro River. Shoigu then ordered the troops to prepare for a retreat from Kherson.
By the evening of Nov. 10, Ukrainian officials announced that Mykolaiv Oblast has been completely liberated from Russian invaders, opening up another vector of approach towards Kherson.
