France and Australia have reached an agreement to jointly produce and supply 155mm artillery shells to Ukraine, aiming to help Kyiv defend against the Russian invasion, French new outlet 20minutes reported on Jan. 30.

According to French Armed Forces Minister, Sébastien Lecornu, the project envisages the production of several thousands of artillery rounds.

“Several thousands of 155mm shells will be manufactured jointly,” said Lecornu.

Australia’s Defense Minister, Richard Marles, described the agreement as “a multi-million Australian project,” and a new chapter in “the cooperation between Australian and French defense industries.”
