The French Foreign Ministry has condemned
the overnight Russian missile
strikes on Ukrainian territory, CNN reported on April 28.
The statement asserts that Russia intentionally targeted residential buildings in the city of Uman, resulting in "a heavy toll of civilian casualties, including children."
"Such targeting of Ukrainian infrastructure and civilian populations underlines Russia's clear desire to continue escalating its war of aggression in Ukraine," CNN quotes the ministry.
French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna emphasized that Paris will continue to support the efforts of the International Criminal Court and Ukrainian courts "in order to fight against impunity" for Russia's war crimes. She added that her country will continue its military and humanitarian support to strengthen the resilience of Ukraine, for as long as necessary.
On April 28, Russia launched a massive missile strike on Ukraine, with air defenses successfully intercepting 21 out of 23 missiles, including 11 near Kyiv. However, in Uman, Cherkasy Oblast, one missile destroyed an entire wing of a nine-story residential building, killing at least 25 civilians, including children.
