France will continue to issue visas to Russian nationals, but with serious restrictions and only to those "who really deserve them," French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna, said on Sept. 27, according to French cable news channel BFM TV.

“This does not apply to the representatives of the regime, the aggressors of the war,” the minister said.

“This concerns a number of Russian citizens who can and should be able to travel abroad. Therefore, we will continue issuing visas.”

Also, according to her, each visa application will be considered individually if necessary. The embassies and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will check whether the asylum or visa applicant is indeed eligible and fully complies with the criteria of the Geneva Convention.
