The large-scale de-occupation of Luhansk Oblast will begin with the towns of Kreminna and Svatove, Luhansk Regional Governor Serhiy Hayday said in a Telegram messenger post on Sept. 13.

According to the governor, the Russian invaders have already brought their military hardware closer to these settlements.

Hayday added the Russians had completely left Kreminna itself, but the Armed Forces of Ukraine had not yet entered the town.

“We’re monitoring the situation in the town of Lyman, the liberation of which is key for our region. Fighting is still underway around it,” he said.

According to Hayday, Ukrainian guerrillas raised the yellow-and-blue flag over Kreminna after the Russian army left it. The situation is similar in the town of Starobilsk, he added.

At the same time, the invaders returned to Svatove after first fleeing from it.

Earlier Hayday reported the Armed Forces of Ukraine had liberated several settlements in Luhansk Oblast. However, he did not specify their names, adding they were being “cleared” of enemy troops.
