The Russian military is attempting to capture the entirety of Kherson oblast and advance towards the Ukrainian cities of Mykolaiv and Kryvyi Rih, Ukraine’s General Staff said in a Facebook post on May 1.
In a general overview of combat activity in the country, the General Staff informs that recent Russian movements have been focused on advancing on the Pivdennyi Buh River front, which would enable them to take more of Ukraine’s southern territories.
In the country’s northeast, near Kharkiv, the Russian military continues to launch air strikes on the city and advance towards the towns of Barvinkove and Slovyansk, from Izyum.
Moscow is concentrating ever more forces in the area: up to 300 units of military equipment and 1,000 “mobilized” troops from Russia-controlled areas of Donetsk and Luhansk have recently been deployed there.
To deter aerial threats in the area, the enemy has deployed two AA divisions, armed with Buk-M2 and Tor-M air defense systems.
Firing from Russia’s Bryansk oblast, the enemy launched artillery strikes on Ukraine’s forces near Siversk, Donetsk oblast.
Ukraine’s Volyn and Polissia regions remain quiet.
On the eastern front, enemy troops near Liman are advancing towards Krymky and Oleksandrivka.
Near Kurakhivka, enemy artillery is attempting to break Ukrainian defense near Novomykhailivka.
