Russia renews attempts to advance in Donetsk Oblast, General Staff says

Russian forces resumed their attempts to advance along several directions in Donbas, with Ukraine successfully halting some of these attacks, while other flashpoints remain hotly contested, Ukraine’s General Staff said in a Facebook post on Aug. 12.
According to the message, Ukrainian forces have successfully halted Russian advances near the town of Kramatorsk in Donetsk Oblast. Verkhnyokamyanske and a handful of other nearby settlements were struck by enemy artillery fire.
Russian air force and artillery batteries delivered strikes against 10 Ukrainian towns and villages near Bakhmut, Donetsk Oblast.
A tactical Russian advance towards Zaytseve was partially successful, while other assaults on Bakhmut, Ivano-Dariivka, Vyimka, and Vesela Dolyna were summarily repelled. Kodem remains contested.
Other enemy assaults on Spartak and Mariinka were similarly unsuccessful, with fighting still ongoing near Pisky.
Russian forces attacked Avdiivka and three nearby towns with air- and artillery strikes.
A series of enemy artillery and air strikes targeted at least 15 settlements in Mykolayiv and Zaporizhzhia oblasts.
