German MP and Chairman of the Bundestag Defense Committee Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann has named the types of weapons that her country has already supplied or is going to transfer to Ukraine, German newspaper Die Zeit reported on Dec. 13.
“More self-propelled howitzers have been delivered to Ukraine,” she said.
“It’s about 24 pieces. Six or seven Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft guns will also be provided.”
Strack-Zimmermann noted that she personally advocates sending modern Leopard tanks and Marder infantry fighting vehicles to Ukraine, but the government still does not support this initiative.
According to the official, their provision is now simply necessary and she no longer “sees any reason not to do it.”
Earlier, German media outlets, citing their sources, reported that Washington made it clear to Berlin that it was not against the transfer of heavy tanks to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The media reports were then confirmed by Strack-Zimmermann.
