German Vice Chancellor Robert Habeck arrived in Kyiv for an unannounced visit, Deutsche Welle reported on April 3.
Habeck said that the purpose of the trip is to "give Ukraine hope" that the country will be restored after the war. DW said that the economy minister would hold political talks.
The talks will focus on cooperation in rebuilding Ukraine's energy infrastructure, reported DW. Habeck was accompanied by a small German business delegation.
This is the German Vice Chancellor’s first visit to Ukraine since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion.
On the same day, Council of Europe Secretary General Marija Pejčinović-Burić also arrived in Kyiv.
"Pleased to welcome Council of Europe Secretary General Marija Pejčinović-Burić in Kyiv," First Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine, Emine Dzheppar, wrote on Twitter.
Habeck has been making regular statements in support of Ukraine. He has also promised Kyiv further arms supplies.
