Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has met with President of the German Bundestag Bärbel Bas in the Ukrainian capital city of Kyiv, the Office of the President of Ukraine reported via Telegram messenger on May 8.
"We very much appreciate that on the Day of Remembrance and Reconciliation and in such a difficult time of war for us, President of the German Bundestag Bärbel Bas came to support Ukraine," Zelensky said.
The Ukrainian president stressed that the decisions voted in the Bundestag were very important for Ukraine.
"We hope for your support and future membership of Ukraine in the EU. Thank you for your visit," he added.
Germany has been one of the main roadblocks to EU military aid to Ukraine, though that policy has shifted in recent weeks. Germany has also said that it would commit itself to a complete cessation of purchasing Russian oil by the end of the year.
