German-made Leopard tanks can be supplied to Ukraine even without Washington’s agreement to send its Abrams tanks, German television’s ARD reported on its website on Jan. 19, quoting Germany's new Defense Minister Boris Pistorius.

Pistorius said he wasn’t aware there was any stipulation that there had to be the simultaneous supply of tanks from Germany and the United States.

"I’m pretty sure we’ll get a decision on that in the next few days, but I can’t yet tell you today what it will look like," Pistorius said.

Germany's Chancellor Olaf Scholz promised the U.S. President Joe Biden to approve German-made Leopard tanks transfer if the Pentagon sends Abrams tanks to Ukraine, German media reported earlier.
