Germany sends another military aid package to Ukraine

Germany has sent additional military equipment to Ukraine, including armored recovery and border patrol vehicles, German Federal Government said in a message on its website on Dec. 20.

The message includes the full list of security assistance Berlin provided to Kyiv over the course of the war.

Over the past week, the following items were handed over to Ukraine:

●         one armored recovery vehicle;

●         13 border protection vehicles;

●         one ambulance;

●         two lift trucks.

On Dec. 11, Ukrainian Ambassador to Germany Oleksii Makeiev said that the German government plans to extend further security assistance to Ukraine. Kyiv continues negotiations on the provision of Leopard-2 main battle tanks and Marder infantry fighting vehicles.

On Dec. 9, the German government said they were negotiating with the United States and other partners regarding the supply of Leopard-2 tanks to Ukraine.

Previously, German media reported that Washington made it clear to Berlin it was not opposed the transfer of heavy tanks to Ukraine. This information was later confirmed by the head of the defense committee of the Bundestag, Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann.
