A humanitarian crisis is unfolding in the occupied parts of Donetsk Oblast, as all available resources are sent to support Russian troops in the area, the Ukrainian military’s National Resistance Center said on Dec. 16.
In addition, infrastructure in the occupied areas of Donetsk Oblast has not been winterized, resulting in a lack of heating in most of the occupied settlements of the oblast, the center wrote. Problems with power and water supply are also highly probable.
"The occupiers cannot make the situation better, because they have transferred all utility equipment to the needs of the Russian military, and are also redirecting all resources to support Russian formations," the NRC said.
There is also a massive shortage of food and other necessities, while price hikes are common for whatever remains. Taking into account the mass unemployment in the region, local residents cannot ensure the minimum living conditions for themselves, the center warned.
