High-ranking casualties in Russia’s Khalino airbase drone explosion - HUR
A drone explosion on the runway of the Khalino airbase, located about seven kilometers from the center of Russia’s Kursk, on Sept. 24 resulted in casualties, including high-ranking officers of the aviation regiment, a source in Ukraine's Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR) said on Sept. 25.
The Zhdanov 14th Guards Fighter Aviation Regiment that operates Su-30SM fighter jets is based at the airbase.
The first reports of "multiple explosions" and military casualties at the Khalino airbase appeared on Telegram channels on the evening of Sept. 24. Russian authorities initially claimed that they were the result of "air defenses work".
A UAV attacked an administrative building in the center of Kursk on Sept. 24, announced Russia’s Kursk Oblast Governor Roman Starovoit. At the same time, locals reported on Telegram that adrone had attacked the FSB building.
Residents of Kursk reported a UAV attack on the FSB office building in Kursk Oblast on Dobrolyubova Street, the Astra Telegram channel reported.
There was a “direct hit” by a drone on the FSB building in Kursk, reported Ukraine’s military intelligence.
In addition to the FSB building, a UAV hit an oil refinery near the airfield, reported public broadcaster Suspilne, citing sources in the HUR.
