Invaders occupied about 70% of Luhansk Oblast, local governor says
Russian invaders have captured some 70 percent of the Luhansk Oblast, Serhiy Haidai, the head of the Luhansk Regional Military Civil Administration has said in a statement on Facebook.
Haidai added that Luhansk Oblast is now one of the hottest spots of the Russian war against Ukraine. Shelling continues in Hirske community, Popasna, Lysychansk, Sievierodonetsk, Rubizhne and Kreminna.
“In the newly captured territories Russians have been repressing and dispersing peaceful protests with gunfire,” Haidai said.
According to him, Russian invaders have been shelling civil infrastructure: schools, hospitals, kindergartens, water and gas pipelines, and electricity networks.
At the same time, they do not allow to restore the damaged communications. They have also refused to let local government to coordinate humanitarian corridors. “The Ukrainian-controlled territory is also under constant shelling. There are dozens of dead and wounded civilians.”
The Ukrainian side transports humanitarian cargo in all possible ways and creates additional distribution centers for humanitarian aid, in particular, in Lysychansk and Sievierodonetsk. In the territory controlled by Ukraine, mobile communications work, but with cuts-off. While in the temporarily occupied territories by the invaders, occupiers set up Russian television networks, Haidai said.
“Russian propaganda and fakes have been already spreading in these territories. Do not be afraid of the invaders, do not believe their propaganda, take care of your life and keep faith in Ukraine,” Haidai said.
He urged Luhansk residents not to cooperate with the enemy an serve only to Ukrainian people.
“Do not help killers, do not join their terrorist [ranks], do not betray the country, believe in victory,” Luhansk governor added.
Earlier, the Head of the Luhansk Regional Military Civil Administration said that the Kremlin and the so-called People’s Republics of Donetsk and Luhansk controlled by Russia would like to create the appearance that the Donbas was allegedly waiting for the invaders, and force people with threats to address “with gratitude” to Putin. On the morning of March 11, such a propaganda video was filmed in Svatove, using unknown actors with tricolors.
